Election Information

Election day is Tuesday, November 8, 2022
Most polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Some precincts are mail ballot only. See links below for more information.

Registering to vote: 
You can register at the polls on election day with proof of residence for an election day registration.

Three counties, many voting rules:
The New Ulm Public School District includes portions of three counties. Please see their elections websites for early voting and election day voting instructions.
Brown County
Blue Earth County
Nicollet County

Vote early in-person:
Brown County
In-Person early voting is available during the below times at the Brown County Courthouse, 14 S State St, New Ulm, MN
  • During normal office hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • ​The Saturday before the election, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • The Monday before the election, until 5:00 p.m.

Blue Earth County
All Blue Earth County voters may vote early in person at:
  • Blue Earth County Historic Courthouse, 204 S 5th Street, Mankato, MN.
In-Person early voting is available during the following times:
  • During normal office hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) beginning 46 days before the election
  • The Saturday before the election from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • The Monday before the election until 5:00 p.m.

Nicollet County
Individuals interested in absentee voting may do so either by mail or in person at the Nicollet County Public Service Office.

Standard office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is also open for absentee voting the Saturday before an election from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and until 5:00 p.m. on the evening before the election. You do not have to be a registered voter to vote by absentee ballot (you will register during the absentee voting process).

Mail Ballot Precincts
Some precincts only offer mail ballots - there are no polling places on election day. If you live in these precincts you should have received a ballot in the mail.

​This referendum question will be on the November 8, 2022 ballot. The State of Minnesota requires the following language be used for the ballot question:
School District Question 1
Renewal of Expiring School District
Referendum Revenue Authorization
The board of Independent School District No. 88 (New Ulm Public Schools) has proposed to renew its existing referendum revenue authorization of $779 per pupil which is scheduled to expire after taxes payable in 2022.  The proposed referendum revenue authorization would increase each year by the rate of inflation and be applicable for ten years beginning with taxes payable in 2023, unless otherwise revoked or reduced as provided by law.

Shall the increase in the revenue proposed by the board of Independent School District No. 88 be approved?
BY VOTING "YES" ON THIS BALLOT QUESTION, YOU
ARE VOTING TO EXTEND AN EXISTING PROPERTY TAX
REFERENDUM THAT IS SCHEDULED TO EXPIRE.
